COVID-19 (Medium-sized countries) – 2021/04/21

Among the list of medium-sized countries, it is still fairly difficult to identify a pattern, except for the UK where the vaccination programme is going exceptionally well. Alan Whiteside who resides in the UK writes in his latest blog update about their personal experience regarding vaccinations and it is clear that he is deeply impressed with how it is being done. You can read this update here:

Turkey has a strange situation where the infection went down from last week although the number of infections kept on rising. This happens from time to time. The infection rate dropped from 1.47% to 1.46%, but the country also recorded its highest increase in new cases on 16 April (63,082) and the daily average also increased from 54,796 to 60,266. Furthermore, the number of new daily cases per million also increased from 650 last week to 715 this week. Iran also recorded their highest number of new cases on 14 April (25,582). Yesterday Turkey had its highest number of deaths (346) as the death rate increased from 0.76% to 0.87%.
